Get in Character this Halloween!

Image

Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. If you’re like me, you started planning your costume back in August. But for those who may be slightly less rabid about their love for the spookiest of holidays, fear not! Our Halloween merchants have everything you’ll need to rock this Halloween in style. And the best part is, when you shop through us you’ll earn rewards for your school and yourself, to boot! Here are just a couple of essentials you’ll need to create that perfect character:

No great costume is complete without proper makeup. This makeup kit from Halloween Express comes with 6 makeup sticks, many different applicators, and full-color instructions on how to create three different faces.

If you’re looking for child’s costumes, Costume Express has an exciting selection of superheroes, pirates, ghosts, and ghouls. My favorite is this Iron Man 3 muscle light-up child’s costume that comes with an LED arc reactor and character mask. What child doesn’t want to be a full-blown superhero for a night? And it’s now 23% off!

Don’t leave Fido out of the mix! This Martha Stewart pet pumpkin costume from PetSmart will bring a smile to anyone’s face who sees your pet in this adorable orange and black jumpsuit. It’s available from sizes x-small to x-large, so no matter what size your dog is, he’s sure to be the most pampered pumpkin in the patch!

Today is National Women’s Health and Fitness Day!

Image

I know that when the weather gets chillier and the days get shorter, I sometimes struggle to keep my health and exercise routine. But what better day to decide to get out there than National Women’s Health & Fitness Day? Check out the tips below to get started. Plus, our merchants have all the gear and gadgets you need to actually be excited for exercise time!

1)      Walk! Grab some comfortable sneakers, like these durable, ultra-lightweight Nike sneakers, on sale for $109.99 and get moving! If the weather’s nice, walk instead of taking public transit. If you find your energy draining after lunch, walk around the office.

2)      Develop a routine. Get into a schedule, and stick to it!  I’ve always found that going to the gym right after work works for me, as there is less of a chance of losing motivation by making a pit stop at home. Try getting a gym bag like this Nike duffle bag from Macy’s, so you’ll have your gear with you during the day. It’s water repellent, sturdy, and can also be used for weekend trips.

3)      Inhale the fresh air. No matter how busy you are, spending even five minutes outside breathing in the fresh air can have amazingly beneficial effects on mind and body. With the air getting chillier, be sure you have a warm jacket, like this North Face women‘s thermoball jacket, which is available in an array of vibrant colors and has the warmth of 600 fill-down.

The weather may be chillier, but it’s great for exercising! So get out there, and be sure to shop through K12Rewards to get everything you need, and earn cash for your school, to boot!

Ease Back to School Jitters with These Essential Items

Image

If your child is starting a big year this year–perhaps beginning high school or going away to college for the first time–we know that no matter how much you prepare, first day jitters will always arise. To keep the nerves to a minimum, I’ll let you in on a little secret that has always worked for me: stay as organized as possible. With new teachers, friends, and class schedules, it’s easy to become overwhelmed and confused. And with the stress of making sure you have everything you need for that first day, purchasing helpful organization tools is often overlooked. But if you have these four simple tools for success, the days of forgetting your binder or bringing the wrong book to class will be ancient history.

1)      Agenda. Many people underestimate the importance of a hard copy appointment book, thinking they’ll be able to keep track of events in their head or in a blank notebook. But the calendar format of this weekly and monthly agenda is just what you need to visualize your busy new schedule, and it runs from July 2013-July 2014—perfect for the school year.

2)      Subject dividers. If you’re starting high school or college, dividers for your binder are cheap and absolutely essential. And you can use them however you want—to separate subjects, topics, ideas, etc. A perfect blend of organization and creativity!

3)      Staplers and staples. Don’t count on borrowing your friend’s or roommate’s, because they are probably thinking the same thing. No one wants to be the student who never has his report stapled together on due day, so be sure to invest in a quality stapler for ultimate academic success.

4)      Message Board. Whether you put it in your locker or hang it in your dorm, message boards are a fun way to remember due dates, appointments, and events,  because you can personalize  them to suit your style. This fun board from Target is only $12.34, and you can use it for daily reminders, to hang photos, to leave notes for your friends—however you see fit!

With these simple organization tools, available from our merchants at great prices, you can spend more time on your studies and less time on stress!

Back to School Means It’s Time for New Technology!

Image

Every year when back to school rolls around, trying to figure out the best deal on a new laptop,  printer, calculator, or tablet can be overwhelming. So let us help! Right now, our merchants are offering great deals on the kind of top-quality technology that’s guaranteed to keep you at the top of your class.

Math will seem a lot less intimidating when you’re prepared with the TI-84 Plus Graphing Calculator. This calculator from Staples is 2.5 faster than the TI-83, and comes with 13 pre-loaded applications to help you in subjects like algebra and graphing. It’s like having a built-in homework helper! You can also save your work and transfer your files to your computer, making sharing and collaborating with friends easy and fun.

If you’re going away to college, I can’t stress how handy it is to have a quality printer in your room. It will save you money and a lot of time waiting in line at the library, especially during the stress of finals. This Epson Workforce color inkjet printer from Target is on sale for $129.99, and with its state of the art copying, scanning, and printing features as well as its versatile paper handling capability, this printer is a great investment to avoid the stress of dysfunctional library printers.

A quality laptop case is also essential for safe transport of your computer to and from class. This case from Office Depot has additional padded compartments for all your accessories and is durable enough to last through whatever the elements throw at you.

When starting a new school year, buying the right technology is a great way to eliminate those classroom jitters and save you time and stress. Shop with our merchants for all the best deals so you’ll be confident and ready to go for that first day!
